POBBLEBONKING?
That's the sound of the pobblebonk frog that lives here.
It may be an ugly little bastard, but it makes a marvellous noise, and gives us hope.

January floods

Have finally gathered some photos of the 2011 flooding. Will let the pictures tell the story. Starting with a little dog who has had to get used to full dams and the curiosity of running water on the property.

The power of the massive rains was evident in the damage along Campbells Creek and, closer to home, Fryers Creek, which we've rarely seen with water in it. Sad to see the lovely old bridge - or relics of it - over the Fryers Creek have been washed away. As quickly as they rose, the creeks subsided, leaving the damage behind.

Our place

Around our property the dams are both now completely full - and were full to overflowing.

Front dam, including the overflow from dam to culvert beside road, and Bella snuffling along what is normally the bank at the front fenceline.

Interesting to see other impacts on the property from all that rain, like stones, rocks and debri washing down toward dams, both lower dam (left) and upper dam (right) ...

A couple of medium-sized gums fell, roots toppling from softened ground ...

Topsoil (what there is of it!) and ground litter were washed away, both exposing some of the (kind of nice ... ) underlying rock, but also filling swales and gutters that had been dug out in key areas.
